Lent

Lent is a traditional time for meditation and contemplation.  Many people choose to be intentional about their Lenten worship and do something that is in addition to their normal daily prayers.  We are offering three intentional prayer opportunities this Lent.

 ·         Mondays during Lent – Stations of the Cross in the Chapel beginning at 5:45PM.  Every Monday in Lent beginning February 22 in the chapel and continuing each Monday until the Monday of Holy Week.  The service will be about 15-20 minutes long and will be the perfect way to end your day or it could be a stop on your way home from work for some quiet meditation.

 ·         Wednesday Night Family Night

There are two adult activities after the family meal at 6:00PM.  Adult study will be a discussion of the book Can You Drink This Cup by Henri Nouwen by Fr. John.  The chapters are not long, the reading is not heavy but it will give you something to think about for sure during Lent.  Find the book on a table in the back of the church.  Fr. Jack will offer a condensed version of his Tuesday morning Bible Study on the Revelation of  John

 ·         Jazz Vespers Service on March 14! - Mark your calendar for the Sunday afternoon of March 14 for "An Evensong for Mary" at St. Andrews. Join us for a beautiful service or worship and jazz in celebration of the unconditional love of a mother.  Evensong is one of the oldest services in the Anglican Church and is a beautiful way to praise God.  The service will start at 5:00PM.  This is an opportunity to invite your family, your friends and your neighbors to visit St. Andrews.  A wine and hors d'oeuvres reception will follow.

  • Our worship services can now be found online! Live streaming of the 9:00 am and 10:30 am services as well as archives of services for later viewing can be found here: Worship Services Online starting Sunday, August 16.
  • St. Andrew’s extends a special welcome to our friends, family and neighbors who are worshiping with us today. You are invited to join us for refreshments immediately following the service in our new fellowship area just inside the entry of the church.
  • The Nursery is located on the main level in our new space next to the kitchenette. It is open from 8:45 am until 11:45 pm and is available for children aged 4 and under.
  • Adult Study Class on Sunday is at 10:30 am in Haviland Hall. Please ask our ushers or greeters for directions.
  • Sunday School for children and youth is located on the lower level and it begins at 10:15 am. For those attending the 10:30 service, children join their families in worship at The Peace.
  • Wednesday Night - All Age Groups & Study

  • Kindermusik is offered here at St. Andrew's. For more information please visit the web site Kindermusik
  • All persons seeking Jesus—no matter age or denomination—are welcome to “receive communion.”

banner.jpgSaint Andrew’s is a parish that is focused on welcoming new people into the parish. We have programs that allow for people to enter into ministries very quickly. Whether it is becoming a part of a class, informal gathering of parishioners, and active ministries such as the choir or Nearly New Shop, it is easy to become involved.
We invite you to ask our parishioners about the many opportunities for ministry at Saint Andrew’s. Who we are and who believe we are called t be can easily be understood by the expectations listed below.
“Together, we live and grow in Christ”

As a member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, I commit to pray, participate and pledge with fellow members of my church.

I challenge myself to:
· Pray daily and worship in church weekly
· Participate through active ministry in church and community
· Pledge annually, pay monthly

By doing these things together, we will live and grow in Christ at St. Andrew’s.

Fr. John

Newshield50x63.gifThe Episcopal Church strives to live by the message of Christ, in which there are no outcasts and all are welcome.  We are a sacramental and worship-oriented church that promotes thoughtful debate about what God is calling us to do and be.  As followers of Christ. we walk a middle path between Roman Catholicism and Protestant traditions.

Exploring this section may answer some of your questions - or raise additional ones!  Visit St. Andrews or other Episcopal churches in Omaha to find out more.  The best way to learn  is to become a part of it.  Together, we live and grow in Christ!
